sheer shirt & scarf - H&M, skater dress - Topshop, brogues - Primark, 3 finger ring - River Island, green ring - Tallulah Tu, other ring - Grandma's

It's amazing when I look back at the colours I wore throughout winter compared to now. All I wore during winter was black and grey, and now I hardly wear any black. I've been very girly lately actually, I need something to man me up a bit! I love this sheer shirt from H&M trend, it has shoulder pads in it and I think it'll look great tucked into a pair of high-waisted chino's. If only I could find a pair...

WANT

I saw these on http://insideout.topshop.com/, the official Topshop blog, and I cannot wait for them to hit the online store. I'm hoping they wont sell out TOO fast or be too expensive. The reason I prefer these clogs to any other pairs I've seen is because these have a ankle strap, and the other clogs I've tried on are way too hard to walk in because your ankle keeps flipping out of the shoe.

Ahh I love these!

big bird.

shorts and scarf - H&M (shorts from Garden Collection), cardigan - Topshop, tights - River Island, brogues - Primark

You know sometimes you have those days where you want to wear three items from your wardrobe that you know you shouldn't wear together but you want to really, really badly? Well this day was one of those days. I've just got these shorts, and even though this is not how I want to wear them, I couldn't resist trying them on with the lace tights. I wasn't sure about buying the lace tights, but I'm glad I did because they add a bit of a feminine touch to an outfit. I went to Amsterdam yesterday and still didn't find the perfect pair of chino's or clogs, I'm really struggling!

This weekend I'm planning on chilling out completely and not doing anything....except homework. I'd just like to give a shout-out to my photographer/best friend Celeste who's been good enough to give up her time for me, and who is convinced I should be called 'big bird' when wearing this cardigan!

spring.

Denim top - H&M, Skirt - Zara, Tank top - New Look, Brogues - River Island

The weather was gorgeous today, although it is a little scary that 10 degrees feels warm, but I'm sure it's because we've had such a cold, long winter! I've been dying to wear these new brogues from River Island ever since I got them in February. They're girly and mannish at the same time, and the peachy colour is perfect for spring. You know its almost spring time when the town was buzzing with people eating ice creams, slurping ice coffees and shopping for dresses. I'm on the hunt for a perfect pair of chinos, but I haven't been very successful, so I'm going to Amsterdam tomorrow so hopefully I'll find some there. The pairs I find are either too long, too short or too tight. I'm looking for a tan-colour pair or a beige pair. Zara should be my best bet!

leather shorts

Leather shorts and v-neck t-shirt - H&M trend, shaggy cardigan - Topshop, brogues - Primark

Excuse my lack of makeup in my pictures that I take during the week, I don't usually put too much on for school! The weather is gradually getting better and there are eventually signs of spring at the end of the tunnel! My spring wardrobe consists of mostly nudes, pinks and faded khaki greens. I love all of the nudes and I think they really work when worn together or with strong colours such as black, but I can't start wearing all these pale colours unless I get some colour, I'm too pale myself! For now I'll be pairing these amazing leather shorts with tights. They are one of my favourite pieces from my spring wardrobe!

some of my favourite things.

RINGS! 3 finger ring from river island, green snake ring from Tallulah Tu (www.talullahtu.co.uk), and the peace ring I wear all the time is Just Cavalli

My Iphone 3GS

I've been really obsessed with nail-polish at the moment, especially OPI. I would definitely say that OPI is my favourite brand of nail-polish. The colours are perfect and there's so much choice, plus the consistency of the nail-polish itself is great.

Ray-Ban folding wayfarers.

My Canon EOS 500D

One of my recent culinary creations! I love baking.

Concerts. I love being at concerts, the whole atmosphere. Especially when you have the opportunity to get onstage and take pictures like I did here. This picture is from an All Time Low concert I went to earlier this year.

Tea!

My MacBook, giant High School Musical teacup and my artbook.

John Hughes movies. Other favourites include Pretty in Pink and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I think John Hughes was the only director ever to portray 'the teenager' as a teenager really is.

first post. the parka!

Parka, tank top and crop top - all New Look, scarf and skirt - both H&M, shoes - Topshop

Well this is my first post, and I'm hoping I don't disappoint! This blog will be both a documentation of my outfits and my inspirations. I've started this blog because I think about nothing but clothes and fashion 24/7, and I need to tame this obsession through the use of writing, rather than spending all of my money on ridiculously expensive fashion magazines. Other than reading fashion magazines, I love art and english, and I want to study fashion journalism in London when I graduate from high school here in the Netherlands. There's something about fashion journalism that intrigues me so much more than designing or styling, and I believe this is a persons ability to formulate words in such a way that can completely engulf you in an article about an item of clothing, until the point where you are running out of the door, purse in hand, heels not quite on your feet, racing to the shops to buy that item. At the moment, I am that person!

I'm not complaining, because I can't think of anything better than buying that pair of shoes you've been lusting after for weeks that you saw Alexa Chung wearing in British Vogue. Yes, that's the power of the fashion industry. I have many, MANY inspirations, but the key figures in my fashion world are Mary-Kate Olsen, Alexa Chung, Carolina Centenera,  Nicole Richie,  Zoe Kravitz, Sienna Miller and Chloe Sevigny.  I love fashion that isn't too "put together", and that looks right, even when it sometimes shouldn't.

As a 16 year-old English girl living in Holland, it's been difficult to work with fashion and try to get the best out of it as the shops here aren't fantastic, and there isn't much individuality over here, unless you're situated in Amsterdam where it is more internationally influenced. My saviours are Zara and H&M, and if I want something better, I have to travel to Amsterdam to get to River Island, Bershka, and my favourite vintage shops Episode and Zipper. Then if I really feel like spending hours in the train I can travel to Rotterdam to get to New Look and Primark. Trust me, it isn't easy. I've managed to gather enough information about where to get the good stuff and from that I've created my own style. I want to be the girl that gets stared at when I walk down the street, because if not I feel boring and I don't want to blend in. Fashion is all about standing out as a person.

Through this blog, I want you all to see how I play the "hunter-gatherer" when it comes to fashion, and how I put things together that don't necessarily cost the world. I'll also post about my hobbies, such as baking, photography and writing, as I want to keep you all interested! Please keep me updated with what YOU want to read in my blog! Thank you for reading and watch this space!
